Introduction: 2008 was quite a year. The demise of Lehman, the financial bailout and the continued stress to many of the traditional insurance companies such as AIG, Hartford and XL, means that 2009 is the right time to revisit the use of your existing captive or create a new one to take GREATER CONTROL of your own risk and risk management strategies. Our fourth annual conference will look at the investment options available after the carnage of 2008, the recent tax and accounting pronouncements, and the potential for even more regulation coming out of Washington and the states. We will discuss the importance of claims to the risk process as well as the developing litigation trends. We will revisit the topic of onshore vs. offshore and whether the current environment is going to move the use of employee benefits in captives from a much discussed theory to actual practice.
